Purgatory Chasm State Reservation is Located in Sutton, MA. It is easy to get to from the Mass Pike. The Purgatory Chasm hike is a glacial formation of granite (so it is believed). The hike through the chasm is tricky and should not be attempted by the very young or fragile. You would want to hike this with both hands free at all times. There are facilities open during park hours. No Entrance fee to explore the park. There are several beautiful picnic sites as well as a large covered pavillion. People were spotted with head lamps to go into the many caves formed along the path. These caves are very narrow and dark and I, personally, would not attempt such a venture. There is a very nice childrens park with swings, climbing structure, large merry go round, and slides. For more information on Purgatory Chasm please click on the link below.
